June dates for first European Casino Summit

London
2nd April, 2002

Details of the first European Casino Summit have been announced. The event, which is being researched and organised by ATE on behalf of the European Gaming Organisation (EGO), will take place across 27th and 28th June at The Martinez Hotel in Cannes, France.

The Summit, which is being targeted at operators, will examine the most important strategic, legislative, regulatory and technological topics facing the global casino industry.

Essential issues which will form the basis of the Summit include: effects on employment of the European Social Charter; looking at employment law issues for casinos; nation-centred case studies focussing on changes and potential changes in gambling legislation and licenses; a comparative analysis of how the United States and the United Kingdom are approaching problem gambling; the future of European-based casino resorts; an on-line and new media platform update; a comprehensive review of player tracking and future payment systems including how cashless payment can be successfully deployed in the battle against money laundering and a new look at branding and promotion for the gaming industry.

Chris Brammer, secretary general of the European Gaming Organisation is confident that the Summit will provide a fresh approach to EGO’s European Gaming Forum: “Over the last two years the Forum has lacked focus in terms of addressing the specific needs of casino operators,” he said. “I believe that in ATE we have found a partner more than capable of revamping the content and format in order to fully address the critical issues facing those working at the sharp end of our industry.”

Julian Graves, marketing & commercial director at ATE, believes that the Summit represents a vital knowledge gathering and networking event for operators active in the international casino industry: “The Summit will explore many of the most pressing issues and opportunities facing the business and will feature an élite group of speakers widely regarded as having the sharpest intellects in the industry,” he said. “We have received an
enthusiastic response to the Summit, which has all of the credentials necessary to become a ‘must do’ event at what is a crucial time for the business.”
