Project goes flatscreen with Eurocoin

Project's first flatscreen game - Joker Poker - uses TFT LCD screens from Eurocoin.

At only 10% of the weight of a CRT monitor and requiring just a fraction of the space, the Eurocoin 15" TFT LCD flat panel fits easily inside Project's casino cabinet which has traditionally been used for reel-based games. This enabled the new game, which is based on the popular video poker format, to be introduced without costly cabinet redesign and manufacture. Integration was also simple as the monitor has  "plug and play" functionality which enabled it to be linked to Project's game software without any additional interfacing.

"Joker Poker is interactive but not demanding and appeals to a cross section of consumers" said Project MD Tony Boulton. "Top quality graphics are important to maximise on the game's appeal, so the TFT LCD screen, with its flat viewing area and high-resolution, is a vital component. As this was our first move into flat panel displays we assessed the available models carefully, taking into consideration the cost, the levels of back-up and the ability of the supplier to provide a number of components for the machine build from a single source."

Alan Marsh of Eurocoin said "Without a doubt, flatcreens are the future. Market conditions are now right for the move to TFT LCD and we will see an increasing number of games incorporating this technology. Being involved in the development of this pioneering game has been very exciting for us."
