The new chips produced by Eurocoin for the Apollonia Club and Casino have proved to be a big success, with many players taking them home as souvenirs.
The eye-catching, full-colour designs feature figures from Greek mythology and reinforce the casino's namesake - the god Apollo. Although the Apollonia is in the Republic of Macedonia, around 99% of its customers are Greek, and the link to Gods and Goddesses such as Poseidon and Aphrodite has been extremely well-received. "Up to December 2001 our operating currency was the US dollar" said Bernard Storace, General Manager "but, with the arrival of the euro, our Greek visitors can now play with the day-to-day currency they carry around in their pockets. They are no longer obliged to change drachmas to dollars, and no longer face bank charges or losses due to rate of exchange. We decided to use this opportunity to create a set of euro denomination casino chips which are completely unique to the Apollonia. We spoke to several chip manufacturers but Eurocoin was the company that was able to take our initial idea and turn it into reality. "Our customers are very enthusiastic about the designs and within the first few days we noticed that visitors were keeping them as souvenirs. In addition our customers and dealers really like the way the chips handle during play." Chipco casino chips have a one-piece construction and designs are deep-dyed into the ceramic material of the chip. This makes them far more secure than decal-style chips, and the customised designs are a valuable way of promoting the casino name. Colin
Veitch of Eurocoin said "This is a particularly attractive set of designs
and the choice of subjects and colours works very well indeed. We wish
Bernard and his team continued success and look forward to helping other
clients with similarly attractive projects."
