Holland Casino and Atronic celebrate together

Luebbecke, Germany
7th May, 2002

On April 18, 2002, Holland Casino Zandvoort officially re-opened its doors after a short but intensive reconstruction. Within a period of just a few months, the local project-team from Holland Casino has succeeded in creating a beautiful and very guest-friendly reception area, a how to play/low limit “Let’s Play” area and space for an additional 80 slot machines. As a result, the total number of machines in Zandvoort has increased by 40 percent to 280.

The main attraction during the night of the re-opening was the official launch of Sphinx II in the Netherlands, a moment where many players of Holland Casino had been looking forward to. The official launch was done by Roel Woering, General Manager of Holland Casino Zandvoort, who received assistance from two Sphinx-actors, a belly dancer and an Egyptian music-band. After the official part, the 2,000 casino visitors could finally play on the machines and try their luck for one of the 5 trips to Egypt that could be won on the Sphinx II machines.

In order to explain the numerous features of Sphinx II and to hand-out giveaways to the casino guests, Atronic had organized a promotion team that was in the casino during the night of the opening and the following night.

“Already within the first two weeks after the installation, Sphinx II had beaten all possible performance records in the casino of Zandvoort” says Erik-Jan van den Berg, Product Manager for Holland Casino and responsible for gaming in the casinos of Zandvoort and Schiphol Airport. “Responsible for part of these records was its famous predecessor Sphinx, which despite its age, still is a Top-3 game in most casinos in the Netherlands”.

Compared to its predecessor, Sphinx II offers improved sounds, enhanced graphics and new bonus features. Furthermore, the game offers a double bet feature which allows players to control how they like the game to play. They have the option to play “from left to right” only or  “from left to right and right to left” for more wins AND the chance to unlock the mysterious Tutenchamun’s Treasure Bonus. This is a highly player-interactive digit feature that allows players to influence the final win amount. The Sphinx II is available in all of ATRONIC cabinets (including on the world´s only fully-functional, oversized video gaming machine : the Titan) and can additionally be equipped with a special Sphinx de Luxe top-box (see picture).

The night of the re-opening of Holland Casino Zandvoort was an enormous success and both Holland Casino and Atronic are convinced that the concept for the re-opening will have a very positive impact on the image of the casino and the Atronic games.
