Next year’s ATEI and ICE events will take place as originally planned on 21st, 22nd and 23rd of January. London
The confirmation
was received following an arbitration process overseen by Mr Peregrine
Simon QC and attended by ATE chief executive Peter Rusbridge, together
with representatives from EC&O, owners of Earls Court, and National
Boat Show Ltd (NBSL), organisers of the annual International Boat Show,
the event which traditionally precedes ATEI/ICE.
If the
legally binding arbitration process had gone in favour of the Boat Show,
ATEI/ICE 2003 would have been forced to move their dates back by one week
or seek an alternative venue. The Arbitrator ruled that Earls Court Limited
had agreed to make its exhibition halls available to NBSL from 9 December
2002 to 23 January 2003 but the earlier

which was agreed by all parties, confirmed the details: “An arbitration
took place in London on 20th and 21st May 2002 at which Earls Court Limited,
National Boat Shows Limited and Amusement Trades Exhibitions Limited participated
in order to resolve issues concerning a clash of dates for the London Boat
Show 2003 and the Amusement
On receiving
Mr Simon’s ruling, Peter Rusbridge said: “There was an outside chance that
we and our customers would be the innocent victims in all of this. I am
enormously pleased that Peregrine Simon QC, after considering all of the
facts, ruled in our favour and that this chapter is now closed. It appears
that the mistake was a genuine one and as a trade show organiser I feel
greatly for the difficulty this will cause both the National Boat Show
and Earls Court. I would like to thank all of our customers – exhibitors
and visitors – for their support and look forward to working to achieve
another successful b2b event for the international gaming and gambling
industries.”
