| WMS Gaming Surpasses 4,000 Units Ordered by California
Casinos; Company Achieves Annual Fiscal Goal Sooner Than Expected
CHICAGO
Feb. 20, 2001
WMS
Gaming Inc., a subsidiary of WMS Industries Inc. (NYSE: WMS),
announced today that it has received a sales order representing its
4,000th
gaming device for delivery to casinos in California during its June
30, 2001 fiscal
year. By surpassing 4,000 sales orders in California, the Company has
exceeded its initial internal sales goals and penetrated the market
rapidly due to high customer acceptance of its products.
Brian R. Gamache, President and Chief Operating Officer
of WMS
Industries, Inc. stated, "Having orders for more than 4,000 units into
California in two-thirds of the projected time frame is very exciting
and significant for our company. The California market is our first
foray into a brand new marketplace as one of the top suppliers in the
industry. Starting from that position of strength, we have always been
confident that we could achieve twenty-five percent marketshare in
the
state. California Native American casino operators, in an effort to
provide their guests with top-notch entertainment, have embraced our
products as key elements of their slot mix allowing us to sell a
substantial number of units enabling us to exceed our projections
sooner than expected."
Mr. Gamache continued, "We have capitalized on the
sales momentum,
increased visibility and customer acceptance of our products in
California resulting in order volume for eight months that surpasses
our twelve month goal. By combining printer technology with our
innovative and entertaining game themes for this new marketplace, we
have been able to provide the casino operator with a wide array of
products that offer tremendous earning potential enabling WMS to
garner a substantial market share in the state. Going forward, we will
continue to develop products and technology with this important market
in mind in order to further broaden our product offerings."
