CHICAGO, ALPINE and PALM SPRINGS, Calif.
WMS Gaming Inc.,
a subsidiary of WMS Industries Inc. (NYSE:WMS),
announced today that it has commenced shipping gaming devices to
casinos in California. Before June 30, 2000, WMS plans to deliver more
than four hundred units to various casinos in California including
orders of 140 units to the Viejas Casino in Alpine and 136 units to
the Spa Casino in Palm Springs. The initial installations represent
more than $3.5 million in revenues for the Company. In addition, a
number of California casino customers have scheduled installations of
WMS Gaming products early in the first quarter of fiscal 2001 which
commences July 1, 2000.
The orders include a mix of WMS' popular video and reel-spinning
products such as Reel `em In(R), Winning Bid(TM) and Jackpot Party(R).
The casinos selected WMS devices on the basis of performance,
reliability, innovation and serviceability. In addition to the games
noted above, WMS Gaming will concurrently place its highly popular
MONOPOLY(R) brand participation products in California.
"The California shipments and MONOPOLY(R) installs represent
important milestones in WMS Gaming's goal of continued domestic
expansion. Our initial success supports our belief that the California
market will be heavily video focused which plays to the strength of
our product line. The timing of the passage of Proposition 1A in March
provided us with the opportunity to secure orders and install products
prior to the end of our June fiscal year," commented Brian R. Gamache,
President and Chief Operating Officer of WMS Industries. "In addition
to contributing to our fourth quarter results, WMS Gaming's strong
start in California bodes well for sales and participation revenues in
