CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS
July 17, 2000
Viva Gaming Resorts (OTBB-VIGA) reports that it has taken possession of the M/V Island Dawn, and will be moving the vessel to Corpus Christi directly from its current location in the Bahamas.
Completing the transaction with Discover Dawn Limited Partnership, Viva has engaged the services of Sophlex Ship Management, a Florida Corporation as the ship manager. Sophlex will operate all maritime related duties for Viva’s Day Cruise operation in Corpus Christi. The vessel will be re-named Texas Treasure and has a passenger capacity of 1,464, including crew members.
"We are very pleased to bring Corpus Christi and the surrounding area a truly first-class luxury vessel," Viva Gaming President and CEO, Marty Gross, said. "The on-board addition of full service dining and restaurant facilities, bar areas, show lounge and expanded gaming amenities will make the inaugural sailing of the Texas Treasure in September well worth the wait."
Viva Gaming will begin operations in Corpus Christi by September 15, 2000. It expects the project to attract in excess of 400,000 passengers annually and generate approximately $35 million in revenues during its first year of operation.
