WMS Gaming Products Sweep Top Three Video Slot Spots in Casino
Player Magazine's "Best of Gaming 2001" Video Slot Category
MONOPOLY® Themed, Reel 'em In® and Jackpot Party®
Voted Best Slots By Over 7,000 Players
WAUKEGAN, IL & LAS VEGAS
June 28th, 2001
WMS
Gaming Inc., a subsidiary of WMS Industries Inc. (NYSE: WMS), announced
today that its MONOPOLY® branded game offerings as well as the Reel
'em In® and Jackpot Party® games, have been voted the first, second
and third most popular video slot machines in America by the readers of
Casino Player Magazine. More than 7,000 respondents participated in the
sixth annual "Best of Gaming" poll conducted by the magazine. The results
of this year's survey results appear in the July issue of Casino Player.
The MONOPOLY branded games are based on the classic
MONOPOLY game from Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS).
"The proof is in the play and the readers of Casino
Player magazine have spoken!" Brian R. Gamache, President and CEO of WMS
Industries Inc. said. "We are elated to hear that players love these games.
It is a strong and meaningful endorsement to have such a large
base of gaming enthusiasts behind these slot machines. Previously,
the MONOPOLY brand was named the 'Best New Slot 2000' in this same survey.
These branded products, as well as Reel 'em In and Jackpot Party, are timeless
entertainment with universal appeal. The votes by players back up our sales
figures to casinos and further confirm that WMS
designers and engineers are the best in the business, and are dedicated
to delivering the most innovative entertainment in the world. It is this
commitment to creating highly entertaining slot machines that continues
to drive our increasing profitability and shareholder value."
"WMS Gaming's video slots are among the best games
the industry has to offer," said Adam Fine, Editor-In-Chief of Casino Player.
"Even more amazing is the speed with which games such as Monopoly, Reel
'Em In and Jackpot Party, along with WMS' other games, have been embraced
by the gaming public. And no one knows this better than Casino
Player's readership of 150,000 subscribers, who are the most avid players--and
toughest critics--you'll find anywhere. Considering the competition for
player interest on the casino floor, it's quite an achievement for WMS
to lock up the category so completely."
Casino Player, America's largest casino gaming magazine,
is owned and operated by Casino Publishing Group, which also publishes
Strictly Slots, the magazine for slot enthusiasts; Poker Digest, a biweekly
magazine covering the poker world; and the Atlantic City Insider, a monthly
newsletter dedicated to revealing Atlantic City's best kept secrets.
