12th John Huxley Golf Tournament
8th & 9th September 2001. The Marriott Forest of Arden Country Club

London
13th September, 2001

The 12th John Huxley Golf Tournament was eagerly awaited, and as ever the weather was kind for the entire weekend.

Over 60 top executives from the UK, European and South African Gaming Industry set off in very windy, but dry conditions on the Arden course, home of the Compass English Open for 2 rounds of golf.

Saturday evening's dinner also led to the announcement of a new International Committee for the Chip's Charity. Linda Lindsay, Alan Goodenough, Peter McNally and Tony Jackson will collectively be responsible for the supply of powered wheelchairs to countries outside of the UK.  Presentations will of course continue within Great Britain as well.  So far Chip's has raised nearly £1 Million for the purchase of powered wheelchairs for disabled children and it is one of the very few Charities created by the Industry for the Industry. Whilst, the vast majority of the chairs have been for children in the UK, from now on chairs will be available to children across the world.

Sunday was the main event, and the day began with the presentation of 2 powered wheelchairs to deserving children from the local area.  This year's presentation was a truly humbling experience for those lucky enough to have healthy and happy families.

Again, the course was a difficult test of golf as the wind gusted up to throughout the day.  The eventual winners managed to amass an excellent 45-point total.  The usual spot prizes were also in place including a magnificent Lexus 4 wheel drive as the spot prize for the nearest the pin on the notorious 18th Hole.
