 Commerce Casino raises the ante with Crown Plaza Hotel set to open in Fall 2001

The local casino, first to build an on-site hotel, will provide accommodations and entertainment venues for Los Angeles area residents and worldwide travelers.

    The Crowne Plaza Los Angeles - Commerce Casino, located in the heart of Los Angeles, announces the 2001 fall opening of its Las Vegas-style casino/hotel. 

    “We are not only excited about the grand opening of our Crowne Plaza hotel at Commerce Casino, we are thrilled to be bringing a first-class showplace to the Los Angeles area…the look, feel and excitement of a Las Vegas experience right here in the City of Commerce,” said Joseph Zarrahy, General Manager of Crowne Plaza Los Angeles - Commerce Casino.

    Resembling an Assyrian-themed palace, with stunning architectural designs recalling ancient Babylonia, the nine story, Crowne Plaza Los Angeles- Commerce Casino features 200 guest room/suites and will cater to business travelers, family vacationers and local area residents. Each guest room/suite provides a hospitality bar, microwave, coffee-maker, in-room safe, voice mail and data port with high speed Internet access, pay-per-view and complimentary newspaper service. Hotel amenities include a health and fitness facility, retail stores and restaurants, more than 20,000 square feet of meeting and conference room space including an elegant 13,600 square feet “pillar-free” Crowne Ballroom for special events. 

    The magnificent statues at the entrance to the casino/hotel were designed by Pasadena artist, Raul Rodriguez, renowned for his annual award-winning Tournament of  Roses Parade floats. The principal designer of the Crowne Plaza Los Angeles - Commerce Casino was Barry Thalden whose past work includes Las Vegas’ New York, New York Casino& Hotel.

    Open 24 hours a day, Commerce Casino, is known as the “Poker Capital of the World”. With 250 gaming tables, it offers the largest and liveliest Poker section in the 
world. Commerce Casino features all limit Poker games, Pan and California games such as No Bust Blackjack. Yearly tournaments and player promotions have made Commerce Casino a choice destination in the Los Angeles area for more than 18 years.
