Asia & Bet Markets - Field trip report
To sum up the trip in a couple of
paragraphs. The Bet Markets Asia conference was poorly attended. The City
of Dreams opening was a success and the twin level casino is attractive
and colourful. However the design of the 4 towers that make up the complex
(with the exception of the Hard Rock) is disappointing - uninspiring may
be a better word.
G2E Asia was interesting and attendance
was reasonable. Macau continues to surprise and even with increased competition
and economic downturn the Venetian looks set to remain the world's largest
and busiest table games operation.
Both Wynn and LVS have sacked large
numbers of ex-pat staff over the last 2 weeks. If S.A.R administrators
are looking for Macau to mature into an internationaly recognised casino
destination such decisions may prove to be very short sighted.
