    Sydney based game developers Next Generation Gaming have announced the successful completion of venture capital financing. The company specializes in developing games for internet, WAP and interactive TV. 
    Founders Tony McAuslan and Mario Castellari both held senior executive positions with machine manufacturers including Aristocrat and IGT prior to the companies formation eight months ago.

    My Casino has revealed half year results that show a loss for the period of A$1.1 million. The company being the target of credit card fraud amounting to some A$3.5 million from several South East Asian countries. The former gold mining company relisted on the Australian stock exchange in April as an online casino operator and is licensed by the Pacific Island of Vanuatu where gaming tax is just 4%. Part of what were formerly the New Hebrides the islands are located some 1500km from mainland Australia

    The Crown Casino which is the venue for the World Economic Forum Asia-Pacific has been fortified with barricades by police ahead of the conference. The Southern hemispheres largest casino with 350 tables and 2,500 slots will apparently also remain open round the clock regardless of the disruption planned by protesters.

    The Emperor Group based in Hong Kong is according to a report from the Associated Free Press planning to open a casino in North Korea. The 16 table and 52 slot operation will be located near the border with China and Russia with an opening date set for the 17th October. North Korean citizens will be barred from entry. 
    Stanley Ho opened the $233 million Casino Pyongyang in North Korea during 1999.

   Leading up to the Sydney Olympics the Australian gaming industry is once again in the news. An interim government report has revealed alleged criminal activity at the Star City Casino. Actions now being taken including the transfer of surveillance staff to the Casino Control Authority with the hiring of another 12 personnel for the department. The report also has the recommendation that if players are barred from one states casinos the ban should apply nationally.
